Story :

In the heart of the story lies Melvin Udall, a cantankerous and prejudiced writer fixated on romance, who spares no one from his brusque manner, not even his homosexual neighbor, Simon. When a tragic incident lands Simon in the hospital, Melvin's world undergoes a drastic shift as he unexpectedly becomes responsible for caring for Simon's canine companion. Complicating matters further, Carol, the lone waitress at his frequented diner who can withstand his behavior, departs her job to tend to her ailing son, leaving Melvin without his customary breakfast routine.
