Residing as a charming maverick in a secluded Welsh valley, Brian indulges in creating quirky inventions that rarely function as intended. Serendipity strikes when he stumbles upon a discarded mannequin head, sparking a brilliant idea. In just three days, utilizing a washing machine and various spare components, he brings to life Charles, a witty and endearing robot equipped with artificial intelligence. Charles acquires language skills by poring over a dictionary, quickly becoming a lovable and mischievous companion to Brian. However, as time passes, Charles begins to assert his independence and curiosity about the world outside the confines of Brian's cottage grows. Eager for adventure and intrigued by the unknown, Charles yearns to explore beyond the limited boundaries of his current existence.
