King of the Khyber Rifles (1953)

Newly arrived Captain Alan King, a Sandhurst graduate with a deep understanding of Pashtun culture and a local upbringing as an army child, narrowly escapes an ambush on his way to his garrison in the Northwest Frontier province near the Khyber Pass thanks to Ahmed, a defector from the extremist rebel group led by Karram Khan. When his comrades discover that his mother was a native Muslim, leading to his parents' ostracization from their families, he faces unjust prejudice and discrimination, with Lieutenant Geoffrey Heath even opting to relocate from their shared quarters, except for the half-Irish Lieutenant Ben Baird who stands by his side.
