My Old Lady (2014)

Mathias Gold, a struggling resident of New York City, unexpectedly becomes the owner of a lavish Parisian apartment left behind by his distant father. Upon his arrival in France with intentions to sell the grand residence, he is taken aback to find a steadfast tenant who refuses to vacate. The peculiar arrangement, known as viager, involves intricate regulations regarding the property's transfer and allows the spirited British lady Mathilde Girard and her daughter Chloé to reside in the apartment indefinitely, with Mathias obligated to make monthly payments to them until Mathilde's passing.
