Rosewater (2014)

During the tumultuous 2009 Iranian elections, Maziar Bahari, an Iranian Canadian journalist reporting for Newsweek, found himself in a precarious situation. As one of the scarce reporters in Iran with connections to American media, he participated in a satirical interview on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, alongside comedian Jason Jones. Despite the interview's comedic nature, the authorities in Tehran failed to see the humor, leading to dire consequences for Bahari. Soon after the interview aired, he was forcibly taken from his residence and incarcerated, a chilling turn of events that would shape his future.
