The Whiskey Bandit (2017)

From 1993 to 1999, a single individual carried out a string of 29 robberies targeting financial institutions across Budapest. The elusive culprit spared no type of establishment, hitting banks, post offices, and even travel agencies. Despite exhaustive efforts, law enforcement found themselves at a loss in their pursuit of the perpetrator over the course of six years. The sole trace left at each crime scene was the lingering scent of whiskey, earning the mysterious criminal the moniker of the "Whiskey Bandit". Without causing harm to anyone, he garnered a curious following among the public as his exploits unfolded in the media spotlight. Ultimately, the enigmatic figure was unmasked as Attila Ambrus, a Transylvanian immigrant who doubled as a goaltender for a prominent hockey team in the city. Just when authorities believed they had him in custody, the story took an unexpected turn.
